I signed up for one month of Lynda training (AutoCAD) then signed up for a second month at the "premium" rate in order to actually get the excercises. I never intended to take out an ongoing subscription. Nevertheless, Lynda continued to charge me the higher rate every month for months before I caught on. I sent them an explanation, that I had not intended to sign on indefinitely( and of course, had not accessed their site AT ALL for the four months I was charged. No reply. Their "customer service" telephone line appears to be an advertising outlet. I have been offered time-shares in Florida, Discounts on Dish TV, Mobile phone service, and discount cards to some sort of restaurant promotion network. Not once have I been able to speak to anyone from Lynda.

Lynda.com does not want new individual customers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
It seems that Lynda.com is now only looking towards big time customers: government, businesses, non profit. On the web site, one would think that the individual user doesn't exist. There is not even a price list on the web site for the individual learner. Furthermore, I am stopped from signing up for a free trial . It doesn't recognize my Linked In data. (Linked in itself has no problem with my sign in details). So, I remain unable to subscribe. The only help information on the website is aimed at big time business. I suggest the small time individual use www.udemy.com. I will now go back to their web site.

Count your lucky stars that you cannot sign in to Lynda, com. they would have kept on on adding monthly fees to your credit card even after you cancell your courses.

I just hope that the Big institutions become quickly aware of their scams.Lets keep denouncing Linda.com and Linkedin..

Good site

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I like the website and have been learning alot. There are a ton of subjects and I feel all the material is up to date and very informative.

I've been learning 100x more than I was at my school ITTech.. now there is a scam if you want to check that joke of a school out, they drained me for my whole GI bill almost. Yeah it costs money all these cheap bastards knocking the site, because they got charged. I've never dealt with the customer service so I cannot comment on that.

It clearly says 10 day free trial for premium. Been paying for premium for 2 months and will continue to do so...thanks lynda.com!

Learning alot? You clearly didn't learn that "alot" is not a word. iTunes U is FREE.

Lynda - Membership Review from Nonthaburi, Nonthaburi

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A year ago I bought an annual subscription to Lynda.com. Two weeks ago a further subscription was deducted from my account without any notice. I have emailed them three times asking for a refund and cancellation of the subscription/membership and received no response. I will phone them but I see that this has now been removed as a contact option from there website. Has anyone had similar problems and can make a suggestion? It doesn't help that I am an Australian resident from a jurisdiction standpoint, thanks, James

Hi

I'm from NZ and have had the same problem when I tried to cancel, there was no contact options. Now I am trying to make sure they don't charge me for the next year's subscription at $450 approx dollars.

My bank told me even if I cancel my card and get a new one sometimes they can still get their money as it may be in small writing in the original contract. I may have to cancel and not have any credit card for a time to stop them.

Good luck Louise

The same thing just happened to me. I had signed up for one year.

I was waiting for a email with the option to renew or cancel.

In steed i got charged for another year. I have emailed them and hoping to hear from them soon.

Hello, James. I JUST had this issue and came to this site specifically to give a review on their bad service.

Their free service number is 1 88* ***-****. When I called they told me they were not able to do refunds, but once I threatened them with a call from my lawyer they put a refund through immediately.

I would suggest doing the same, play hardball or they will just *** you around. Best of luck.

Hello the same thing has happened to me. I signed on with Lynda 1 year ago and with no information, no contact from them and no terms of membership ever provided I too had $490 dollars stolen from me as they charged my credit card.

I had not used their courses for 10 months and had not logged into Lynda since January. I've disputed this with the credit card company and am hoping any advice out there can further help my situation!

I can't even sign into my account

I set up an account today, and had to set up a linkedin account to do so. I can sign into my linkedin account and change my password a thousand times but can't sign into lynda.com on my computer.

It works fine on my phone though.

this is the shadiest thing I've seen on a website. Oh...and I guess I have to enter at least 100 words....so I'll just say I have been a member for exactly two hours and already know through experience that I'll be visiting Bank of America tomorrow to tell them to never allow a charge from this website because from what I can read from other complaints it's one of those never ending charges to your account that you can never cancel...Free my butt....as usual, everything that sounds too good to be true is too good to be true.....I'm trying to learn more about Ableton live recording and I should just give my money to a respected institution instead of watching ridiculous videos of people with awful accents that I can hardly understand.

Lynda Illegally debiting Money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have signed up for Lynda trial period . At that time it was informed that I will get a alert before my trial period whether to auto renew or not . But Lynda automatically auto renewed my subscription without informing for premier annual membership plan for $358 . I have no intention of using the service and demand refund . This constitutes illegal theft by Lynda I didn't got any alert of auto renewing annually and Lynda automatically debited amount form my credit card without my consent . I trusted Lynda and gave my credit information while was registering for my trial period. This is totally unacceptable . How can you charge consumers without asking them whether to renew or not in the first place ? . I have not even used much of the service during my trial period . Please refund the money for my unused usage.Lynda.com please unsubscribe me and reverse the money taken from my account

I have nothing to do with Lynda other than I am a regular user. I LOVE THIS SITE.

I have learned so much I can't imagine not using it. I think this user should spend more time on it because I know I could not live without it in my business!

Cost of membership hidden

Try finding the costs before signing up for a free membership first..... The site will send you in loops.. Finally searched off site to get info... If they have to hide the pricing that much..... You have to question why. I've learned the hard way that 'free' doesn't end up being free when the site wants your info & payment info - and they tell you in 10 days you will ne charged if you don't cancel. Try finding a contact - email or phone. Some of the cardinal rules of trustworthy websites are being ignored by the very site that is offering training- why??????????.!!!!!!!!!!! Diasppointed.

Very Unhappy With Lynda.com

Everyone says lynda.com is a great way to learn Photoshop. I thought I would give them a try because I wanted to learn more about Photoshop and Illustrator for graphic design purposes. The lynda.com membership I paid for has been worthless to me, since I couldn't get anything out of following along on the tutorials that don't allow access to the class exercise files without paying yet more money to upgrade to "premium" membership status! I'm going away disappointed in the whole experience. I consider this a "bait and switch" tactic. Not good, will be seeking the information I need elsewhere. I am much more impressed with other things I've seen out there at a more affordable price.

Really don't care for the pressure selling tactics

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

When LinkedIn bought Lynda.com, it offered a trial to its members. I tried it and I didn't like it. As an Instructional Designer, I have little confidence in talk-and-teach videos as an effective learning aid. So, I just decoupled Lynda.com from my PayPal account to prevent a recurring charge sneaking past me. Since then, I have received about two dozen nags from Lynda.com - sometimes as many as three an hour. Even though this happened:

"We’re writing because after several attempts, we were unable to charge your account to renew your lynda.com membership. Often this happens if your card has expired or your account number has changed.

As a result, your lynda.com account has been deactivated—but we saved your playlists and course history for you. To continue learning, update your billing information and reactivate your account."

I'm still getting the nagging e-mails and no opportunity to explain that I DO NOT CARE FOR THEIR PRODUCTS AND I DO NOT WISH TO BE THEIR CUSTOMER.

Resolved: Lynda.com scammers customer service sucks

it has been resolved at last and I was given my rights

Original review Nov 21, 2014
I fully agree with the fact that lynda.com customer service is so bad it sucks; its so sporadic and non-existent; and their so-called social medial team socialmedia@***.com are arrogant people as well as their legal affairs businessaffairs@***.com. As for you saying for people "to go up the chain" to the supervisors, when you call, you are told you'd have to wait 10 days for their reply!! And when you email and they tell you that your issue is at the hands of the supervisors, it take 3 week and still without a reply! As for customer service they are unprofessionals in that they either: not reply, reply after 4-5 days, reply with arrogance shoving you off and telling you to WAIT endlessly for their supervisor reply, reply with "we'll see about it" and then the most common reply: ignore you completely... What is my problem: I paid hundreds of dollars, and suffered in agony the unavailability of their exercise files. After 6 months I contacted them regarding this issue in pain; they decided to upgrade my account to premium for the rest. Nice, NOT AT ALL; they upgraded the account and canceled my original one, and made the EXPIRY DATE AFTER ONLY 25 DAYS ONLY (instead of 6 months)!! Then for three whole weeks refused to reply, and told me twice only its with a supervisor and not to contact them anymore. When my account had days to expire; one replied to me TELLING ME THE SUPERVISOR IS SICK AND ON VACATION!!! She told me they would correct the mistake and add 90 days only to my account (WHILE I STILL HAD 5+ months); I replied that this is not fair, and they PROMISED TO give me one year in compensation for that agonizing experience... Then GUESS WHAT HAPPENED? Those arrogant people told me they would need to DELETE my account and CREATE another to solve it, which I agreed to, and they did create an account with a new expiry date of only 30 DAYS!! THEY GAVE ME 30 DAYS ONLY... Now THEY COMPLETELY ignore me and do not reply and would not resolve this situation, and this has been going for over 3 weeks with their ULTRA-SLOW, SPORADIC, SELECTIVE replies?!!!! Is that not scamming people out of their money, what is the difference between them and a scammer. Thanks

Lynda sucks

I have learned nothing at all from Lynda.com the results as shown are far too small to make out visually and the soundtrack does nothing at all to help I have bought much adobe software and after getting nowhere with it I had hopes that Lynda.com would help me but that is not the case I feel that Lynda.com should come under the umbrella of adobe and not force an additional charge what is the value in that am I supposed to be so *** I couldn't use adobe software right out of the box or do they just sell the invalid adobe software licenses because they know they will expire anyhow and the latest adobe software is the worst yet why doesn't adobe have a bug review board not allowing this defective software out there?? Lynda is a sycophant organization which just make sure that if you are somehow bleeding from your purchase of adobe software you will continue to bleed on and on ... no the internet should be somewhat free and you should not have to pay for every last thing in life starting with community college and on to adobe software and on to Lynda.com ... do they have something to offer or don't they I have no proof to the positive so I will submit to you that Lynda.com has not an iota of value for the consumer ... Sincerely, disappointed in Willingboro William R Daniels
