Gift Card

I am struggling to purchase a gift voucher for my daughter in Pounds and getting it emailed to my address as she is visiting us in December from the UK and it would be a gift for Xmas. I get as far as paying and a message shows saying "unable to offer voucher in currency as not available in your country" Please advise how I can proceed. Thanks Lynda

Microsoft pays its employees

There is nothing I have to say about lynda.com that wasn't resolved when it was purchased by linkedin.com. The people who cut open the lock on my storage locker in Beaumont Texas know who they are, and the locals made business difficult for the previous owners after those sorts of business practises were revealed to be the usual way that that management did its business. This made it a difficult branch of business for linkedin to manage. I like Microsoft. The management of lynda did not. I got more benefits from being a Microsoft groupie than I did as a so-called worker for lynda. My work is self evident, the surly and covert espionage activities of the company eventually did it in. I got ten dollars and a few bottles of water for the equivalent of a few master's degrees of paperwork, which I was unable to sell to another company. Microsoft knows how to use covert espionage just like the individuals who also have a lot of ongoing grievances with small businesses to this day do. Google and Yahoo also have browsers, it is 2019, not 1998 - although, the Brother International Corporation no longer offers its own operating system. I am not a government agent, thus I am not addressing government topics. The government is not private industry. "The government" is the United Nations, based in Geneva and New York, by the way. The United Nations has a few file numbers and case numbers at their offices for my experiences with that company.

Last day of free trial

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
So I started my free 30 days trial on the August the 7th. Luckily I wrote this down on my Agenda, and finally today, the September the 7th, I went online to cancel my subscription. But then, I saw that they already upgraded my account to premium. Shouldn't you have a whole day of the last day to cancel the subscription? Technically 30 days is not even over yet but they went ahead and charged me for it. So long story short, don't do the 30 days trial! it's actually a 29 days trial or even less for all I know. -_- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- btw this minimum of 100 words is so unnecessary. Who have time for this? Just let us complain and be done with it!

Cannot, will not & ignore cancellation of subscription

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We started using Lynda for AutoCad training. Pretty ok for an online course.

But our dramas in dealing with this company started once we wanted to finish with the service.

We have tried for over nine months to cancel this service but to no avail. But they continue to charge.

This company only wants you to use there service. You can never cancel the subscription.

Lynda's online help is pretty faceless and despite all the online receipts for logged problems the charges will only stop after the next bill not when you want it. It seems like they expect you to forget so they can charge you again and again.

Find someone else or cancel your credit card. #lyndahasnoethics Shrug

Cancellation of surprise subscription surprisingly easy

Lynda - Cancellation of surprise subscription surprisingly easy
Lynda - Cancellation of surprise subscription surprisingly easy - Image 2

I do think it's poor business practice to not notify people that their free trial is expiring. However, the moment I saw that the transaction had been posted by PayPal, I disputed the charge on PayPal and called my bank to make sure the charge would be refused.

Then I sent an email through lynda.com's email address listed on my PayPal merchant receipt. Then I called Lynda.com. The customer service agent with whom I spoke was polite and responsive. There was no argument, no transfer to a "retention" person (like they do at cable companies).

They just said they would refund the full amount. I got a notification in my email and in my PayPal account within 1 minute stating that my fee had been refunded.

I think their business practice probably costs them a lot in cancellation fees and customer service time and salaries, but that's the price they pay for the additional subscriptions they get by people choosing not to do something about it. I was freaked out for a bit, but pleasantly surprised by the no-nonsense quick response I received from Lynda.com's CSA.

Unorganized on how to do s

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Cannot find where to ask authors questions while doing their courses, if you can. Also don't explain how to use it on your mobile In both cases you should be able to navigate to these places without thought It should be intuitive on how to do these tasks from the website is set up. Lyndia.com needs to take course on this before presenting courses recommendation: Read: Don't make me think, revisited: A common sense approach to mobile and Web usability. You can get on Kindle books from Amazon. This help increased your sales and not have so many grumpy people like me. Thanks hope this helps. Don't be arrogant, instead increase your company business. hope you return the favor

Surprise Subscription to Lynda.com for two months

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My story is nothing remarkable. I signed on with Lynda.com on the free trial to find out about one online course I discovered on google. It wasn't what I was after. I forgot to unsubscribe and discovered in May 15 that I'd been charged for two premium subscriptions. I live in Australia so calling customer service is impossible. This is the only other way. I strongly doubt they will refund me, because this is their business model. {{Redacted}}

Bad Business Practice

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
All of a sudden the program that I have been paying for (monthly) is now being removed. Granted I have not been diligent about my studies but I have paid a monthly subscription and now it is just being removed, BECAUSE THEY CAN. One would think they could archive the lesson plan for those who would still like to study a particular course. Maybe offer older versions at half price or consolidate the older program and allow consumers to purchase and use at their leisure in the comfort of their own home. I think this is bad business practice to take someones money and then just one day, presto, so sorry, you lose, program gone............ My subscription has been cancelled, the customer service agent was kind but could not help me. He informed me this company is owned by Microsoft so I am sure there is no care nor consideration for my point of view. I will not use this service again because anything I subscribe to can be discontinued at random. Bad Business.

Getting Charged for Cancelled Subscription - No Way to Contact Support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am getting charged for a cancelled online learning subscription. There is no way to contact any type of support to resolve the situation. Their contact support page is redirecting to the general support article wiki / knowledge-base. They have just recently removed it - since the url is still visible in a Google Search that once upon a time with better management they still offered a way to contact support. Avoid this company and its services at all costs. Avoid it like a plaque. What else is there to write? There is no one to call, no one to write to. They keep stealing money from me. I am contacting my bank to put an end to this thievery.

Don't get the trial membership!

I signed up for the trial, forgot i had done so and i maybe used it all of twice? When the trial was up, tbey decided to charge me 239.88 for a YEAR membership. No notification email, nothing! Imagine my yerror when looking at my card history. Firzt of all, who DOES THAT?! I thought id have been charged for a month. I wasnt evennsure if i wanted it THAT lomg. Also, i think unless youre swimming in money, most persons would choose to pay monthly and be able to opt out at any time. Plus if you have enough money, youd likely just go to UNI. Probably a good site but definitely NOT worth the aggravation. There are plenty of books and whatnot out there to learn these skills. Some might be better too. I was issued the refund in one days time. Contacted their office through an 888 number and it was handled swiftly. Now im getting a new card. Because other reviews say they were being charged even AFTER cancellation. Save yourself the trouble and go take a class at a UNI.

Renewed with no notification.

Was billed by Lynda.com for $360 on 12/31/2016 on a personal CC that my wife uses. I never received a renewal email from Lynda.com, so I had no idea of the charge until my CPA asked me what Lynda.com was.

Called them today, 11/17/17, to ask why I've never received any notification or emails from them, she said it was for "security reasons?" The customer service rep could see that I haven't logged into the site in 2017, she said "that's unfortunate, I'll send you a password reset so you can enjoy Lynda.com until your membership expires 12/31/17." Due to the amount of time that passed, I wasn't looking for a refund, but I did expect a reasonable explanation as to why I haven't received any communication from them and possibly an extension of access to the site, so I could, at the very least, have a reasonable amount time to use the site for the $360 they billed me for. Auto renewal with NO notification when they can easily verify that you are not using the site is a slimy business model, and they know it.

Started with free trial and got charged for a full year!

So it all started with a free trial. I did a couple of lessons, didn't care much for it and forgot I had it.

Next thing I see is my bank statement with an over $200 bill from Lynda. Most companies at least start charging you month by month if you forget about the fact that you started a free trial, not by year! And the best part is that you can't remove the auto renew option.

It's meant to keep you paying them forever because they obviously don't remind you of that. So if you get an offer for a free trial just don't do it, save yourselves.
